Pathway
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide — not a peptide at all, but a coenzyme present in every living cell. It is essential to energy production, and its levels fall measurably with age.
Mechanism
It shuttles electrons through the reactions that generate cellular energy, and it is consumed as fuel by repair enzymes including the sirtuins and PARPs — the proteins most associated with DNA repair and longevity signalling. The theory is that restoring levels restores that repair capacity.
Studied for
- Energy, fatigue and general vitality
- Healthy ageing and cellular repair
- Metabolic health; also used in addiction-recovery clinics

Where the evidence stands
The decline of NAD+ with age is well documented, and administration measurably raises levels. What has not been convincingly shown is that raising levels produces the clinical benefits marketed — human outcome trials remain small and inconclusive. The claims currently run well ahead of the data.
Typical protocol
Administered slowly and titrated by your supervising clinician — rapid administration commonly causes chest tightness, flushing and nausea.
Contraindications & cautions
Not an approved treatment for ageing or any related condition. Rapid administration effects — chest tightness, flushing, nausea. Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Prescribed only after evaluation by your supervising provider, based on your history and bloodwork.
